A Drastic Cure is an Encounter side quest in Where Winds Meet that takes place in Heaven’s Pier. Late at night, Qian Feifei confides in you about a disturbing presence, the Phantom Lady. He keeps hearing a woman’s voice calling out for her child, and the whispers haven’t let him sleep for days. Something is wrong, and it’s up to you to find what is haunting him. How to Start A Drastic Cure in Where Winds Meet
A Drastic Cure can be unlocked near West Heaven’s Pier Boundary Stone, northeast of Moonveil Mountain in Qinghe. Once you reach the location, change the in-game time between Zi and Yin hours to find Qian Feifei and speak with him, who will be kowtowing near a bonfire.
Note: A Drastic Cure only becomes available after you’ve completed The Missing Funds Wandering Tale (Open World Exploration) side activity for Jia Fu, who is also found standing near the same Boundary Stone. It’s a small quest in which you just have to steal Thief’s Bundle from nearby NPC and return it to Jia Fu.
Possible Fixes to Unlock A Drastic Cure
- Complete the quests that take place around Heaven’s Pier, particularly The Missing Funds Wandering Tale. Once concluded, fast travel out of the area, change the time to the Zi hour, and return to the West Heaven’s Pier Boundary Stone.
- Teleport away (Bliss Retreat is better) and spend a full day (24 hours) away from Heaven’s Pier while doing other side quests. Then teleport the next day again to West Heaven’s Pier at midnight.
- Make sure there are no more than two Encounters active in your encounter list at once. There is a limit for the active tasks on the list, so the NPC might spawn if you take care of it.
- If Feifei still doesn’t appear, walk down the path away from the Boundary Stone and then come back. He sometimes spawns once you move away from the landmark.
Once you find Qian Feifei, talk to him to start the A Drastic Cure quest. Ask what’s bothering him to learn that he has a haunting problem, and help him get over it.

After the conversation, wait for a full in-game day and teleport to Evercare Clinic Boundary Stone the next day to find Yao Yaoyao outside the clinic building. Speak with her and choose the ‘A Drastic Cure‘ in the dialogue to let her know about Feifei’s strange condition and ask for a calming charm. She will say to find out about the situation from the other haunted villagers, as she isn’t familiar with it.
Teleport to Brewery Backyard at Heaven’s Pier and find Liu’er at the back of the house in the courtyard. Talk to him to learn about a similar haunted experience he has faced. He will tell you that his cat, named Snowy, has been stolen by Phantom Lady.
Next, return to the front to enter Liu’er’s house and investigate the room. Investigate the fragments on the floor, the sealed window, pick the cat whisker on the cabinet, and the unsealed window beside the door. Return to Liu’er, hand over Snowy’s whisker, and exhaust all the dialogues with him.
The quest will update the ‘Speak with Xiaodai‘ objective, and the marker leads you to Kid Dai. Head to the location southwest of the Brewery Backyard and talk to the kid standing on the cliff edge near a big cherry blossom tree, who also thinks himself to be the victim of Phantom Lady’s theft. He will say that the Lady stole his fox doll and threw it across the sky onto the roof of the building opposite you.
Follow the new pointer to the house rooftop on the higher ground and pick up Xiaodai’s fox doll. Go back to the kid and give him the Fox Flush to complete the objective.
Next, teleport to Emperor Chai Temple landmark, northeast of Moonveil Mountain, and find A’Liang standing outside the wine cellar entrance. Interact with him and follow him down the cellar while listening to his story. He will mention that he has seen little, pale feet and say the nails scratched him on the neck.
When he’s done with the talk, leave the cellar and speak with Feifei in front of the wine cellar entrance to find out the Phantom Lady’s location.
Visit the place Feifei mentioned in the village to investigate strange happenings. Teleport back to West Heaven’s Pier, walk to the pointer near the wooden bridge, and change the time to Zi hour (midnight).
You will hear a strange screaming voice similar to that of a crying baby. Follow the noise into the village to find its source until you reach the ground surface with breakable stones. Break the floor and jump down into a small underground place with a chest in the middle.
Open the chest, investigate the trail where your character crouches, and two cats will spawn there. Use Meridian Touch to immobilize the cats and pick them up.
Return to Evercare Clinic, talk to Yaoyao, and give both cats to her. Yaoyao reveals the truth behind the “Phantom Lady”: it was these two cats causing all the chaos. Go through all the dialogue options regarding the four strange events, and she will explain everything.
Wait until the next day, speak with Yaoyao again, who will give you the strange bells to give to Feifei so he can sleep in peace, and that completes this Encounter quest.
